Edging closer to the fight with his rival: Amir Khan joins Matchroom.

Amir Khan and Eddie Hearn, the two have famously had their differences over the years. Now that has all been put behind them as they work together on Khan’s return.

Khan has been out of the ring since May 2016 when he was brutally knocked out by the signature overhand right of Canelo. During his time out, Khan has dealt with an injury to his hand and personal issues which led him to join the cast of I’m A Celeb 2017 to revive his public image.

“This is where I belong”

Amir Khan is looking to box three times in 2018 under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner, an increase to his previous years of activeness. The opponent is likely to be fringe world level due to ring rust, to be announced next week.

Khan had previously stated that he wanted to fight back in the UK after numerous fights in USA. Signing with Matchroom allows him to be featured on a big stage with a massive following back in his home country. The journey starts in Echo Arena, Liverpool on April 21st, two more fights likely in July/August and a big showdown in December respectively.

“This is the best time of my career, I’ve got the best fights ahead”

The names of Keith Thurman, Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Errol Spence Jr and Danny Garcia were mentioned along with the recent interest of Adrien Broner. All the names featured there will be of interest to the general public as Khan hopes to become world champion again.

“He’s back in the same stable now as Kell Brook, so there’s so much to look forward to”. Said Adam Smith at the press conference, the chance to make the much-anticipated fight is now much more likely with both fighters under the same promotion company.

Amir Khan is still to win a world title at welterweight after all the problems he’s faced, that’s his goal. “I’ve put that behind me, I’ll become a champion again”. The activity at world level is likely to serve Amir well and fighting on the same broadcaster as Kell will only create further interest between the two fighting, whenever that may be.
